About our church
About our Pastor
Welcome to Bethany Lutheran Church! We’re so happy you’re here! We are a growing congregation in Erlanger, Kentucky, a suburb of Cincinnati and a quick drive from the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter. As Christians and Lutherans, we believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died and rose to save all people. Here at Bethany Lutheran, we strive to love like Jesus and to serve our community however we can. Our goal is to grow in our faith and share Christ’s love with anyone who walks through our doors. We invite you to learn more about God’s love for us on Sunday mornings. Please check the main page for updated service times and upcoming events. Go in peace and serve the Lord; thanks be to God!
Pastor Brett Matz was born and raised in Milwaukee. After 20 years as a computer operator and programmer, Pastor Matz felt a desire to serve the church and attended night classes at Concordia University Wisconsin to earn his bachelor's degree in liberal arts while working full time. In 2007, he and his family moved to St. Louis where, 3 years later, he graduated from Concordia Seminary. Over the years, he has felt blessed to share God’s love in the sanctuary and beyond, including 3 Lutheran churches in as many states before he and his family came here to Bethany Lutheran. Speaking of family, the Lord has blessed Brett and his wife Kathy with two boys, Joseph and Timothy. Together, they enjoy cheering for the Packers, Bucks, Brewers, and Badgers. In his free time, Pastor Matz enjoys bowling, golfing, and deer hunting.
